I really liked this article because it covered alot of topics that exist in sport and speaks to us a sport management majors. For instance when it speaks about how we as sport management majors should be sensitized to several different aspects of multi culturalism etc. in order to help ease into the process and help develop the sport as well. Also the author realizes that sport has grown and notes the spread and growth of sport and its diversity of athletes compared to how it used to be.
In addition there is a break down in the increase of nations who are represented in sports as well as the increase of women in sport and the increasing opportunities for countries in tropical climates to partake in some winter sports which I thought was interesting and was unaware of some of these facts.
However I do not necessarily agree with all of the points made in the article about the 4 elements of Thibault's argument. I think the element of using other countries labor force and paying them cheaply and outsourcing sport related jobs i.e. clothing, sports equipment etc is an issue and a downfall of sport. A lot of sports clothes and gear we wear are coming from a poor country where the workers are mistreated and things like what we had talked about relating to Nike occur on a daily basis all so we can represent our teams.
