Dr.Spencer interview in New Zealand

Referring back to the interview which we were able to watch in class last week where Dr. Spencer interviewed a professor from New Zealand. I thought the interview was interesting because I see some similarities in the mentality of the New Zealanders and Americas with rugby and football.

The similarities were very much like the US mentality on football where if you dont play in the sport (rugby) you were considered a little soft and not manly in a lot of peoples eyes. The contact sport of their country is just as popular if not more popular than football here. Much like the mentality that many of us have whether it be when were young or even now people still think that playing sports like soccer is for "poofers". That mentality transpires into our society as well because I know i've said that about soccer when I was younger and know people still say that.

I think that maybe the macho mentality of big men and big contact sports makes people think or atleast compare other sports to be lesser than football and rugby. The information came from a legit source which is why I found this interview to be interesting because it shed some light on the same mentality a lot of Americans have about our rugby (football).
